![]() A DIY home painting project is fun, but mistakes are inescapable. Below are some tips to avoid them so you can work as a professional Rochester painter or fix the errors you’ve already made. Many painting errors can be eliminated and fixed. Paint Dripping Paint dripping is one of the most common painting mistakes. Everyone desires a smooth finish when they paint. Therefore, paint dripping is a no-no. Here’s a pro painter tip: don’t dip your brush too deep into the paint. You don’t want excess paint on it. To fix paint drips on your surfaces, use a scraper to scrape away the dry paint drips. Next, sand the area until it is even and then repaints it. Alligatoring If you desire a pattern on your wall, then you would have gone with wallpaper instead of painting. Alligatoring is when a patterned breaking, looking like alligator scales, appear on your painted wall. To avoid this don’t put on a hard coating instead of a flexible coating. You don’t want to put on a top coat before the bottom layer has completely dried. To fix the alligatoring, take off the old paint and sand the surface evenly. Prime the surface with top-quality primer and paint with a high-quality paint. Brush Marks A skilled painter should leave no signs of brush strokes. Unless you want brush strokes, your goal is getting surfaces as smooth as possible. To avoid this don’t put too much paint on your brush. Also, don’t use sloppy painting methods. To fix the problem, sand and repaint the area. Blistering Blistering happens when bubbles lift the paint film from beneath the surface. To avoid this, don’t paint a warm surface right in the sun or put an oil-based paint over a damp surface. Don’t let your painted surface get rain on it or get exposed to high humidity right after the paint has dried. To fix the problem, try to remove the source of dampness. If the blisters don’t go down, scrape them away, sand the area, use a primer, and repaint with top-quality paint. Follow these guidelines, and you’ll be painting and fixing your problems, saving yourself time and money! Comments are closed.
