When you begin to see dark spots and mold in your bathroom, it can be as good a sign as any to do your spring clean and re-paint to get your bathroom feeling cozy and comfortable again. Mold is a fungicidal issue that can lead to health problems. This is why it’s best to remove mold and keep it gone. You also want to examine any sources that might be producing it, particularly if you have children and senior in your house.

What are the main steps to
removing mold?

Eliminating mold from walls
Before you paint your bathroom, you’ll want to get rid of mold from any areas that will be painted. You can use bleach to eliminate mold stains. Though, for something a little less harsh, you can use sodium borate. These cleaners will help to kill the mold and stop it from spreading.

Stop mold from coming back
Mold happens when there is too much moisture in a room and less ventilation. Mold spores are microscopic. Therefore, you can’t see them being discharged by the mod on your walls. However, it floats unseen in the air, creating health issues for those who breathe them in. They also land on other places in the room to develop further.

There are some vital ways of guaranteeing they don’t come back. This includes replacing your fan and replace it with one that offers better ventilation. When using or cleaning your bathroom, you should have your fan on. You should also open a window if you can when your bathroom is filled with steam to let any extra moisture out.

Prepare the walls
Once you have worked to eliminate mold from your bathroom and it is free from any fungus, you’ll need to prepare the ceiling and walls for painting. You will have to do any wall repairs and fill dents and holes. Be sure to sweep and vacuum to clean up any mess.

You may also want to add a mold-sealing primer before your last coat of paint, paying attention to spots where you’ve had mold stains. A mold-sealing primer helps to stop any mold or mildew from expanding. If a DIY job gets to be too much for you, call a painting contractor in Rochester, NY for help.
